Dinton_Hermit_Chef_Simon_Pitney_Baxter Nestle Professional is backing the launch of a new academy aimed at
helping budding pub, restaurant and hotel managers to train in a fully
operating hospitality venue.

More than 60 apprentices have
already begun their apprenticeship at the Academy of Hospitality Great
Britain
(AHGB), launched in Stockport last week.

And a total of 260 are expected to complete professional cookery and customer services courses at the venue this year

The
Academy is a joint venture between luxury hospitality brand the
Alternative Hotel Group, and the National Apprenticeship Service,
working in partnership with Stockport Council and Connexions.

Neil
Stephens, managing director of Nestlé Professional, comments: “With the
AHGB programme already oversubscribed, we have high hopes for the young
chefs taking part.

“As a foundation growth partner, Nestlé
Professional will help fund the pupils’ equipment and chef whites,
ensuring they are kitted-out to take advantage of this exceptional
opportunity. Chefs will also have access to other tools including our
online Maggi® Menu Solutions ‘Planning Tool’, specifically designed to
facilitate efficient menu planning.”

Speaking from the launch
event, Sue Price, North West regional rirector of the National
Apprenticeship Service, said: “Apprenticeships are the optimal way of
training, developing and skilling people for the future, helping
businesses secure a supply of people with the skills and qualities they
need.

“And who knows, in the future these apprentices may run
some of the country’s finest bars, restaurants or hotels. I’m confident
that this groundbreaking venture will be of benefit to the whole of the
hospitality sector.”

Anyone interested in applying for the Academy should apply online at or speak to their local Connexions Centre.
